The Catalog — Autumn 2025

The Catalog — Hand-tested since 1978.

Every body on this page was inspected on our bench in Brooklyn. New or certified pre-owned, each one was opened, metered, and signed off by a working photographer before it was listed. That's the catalog. That's the whole pitch.

1,800+ SKUs in stock 92% in-stock on flagship bodies Shipped from a real shop, six days a week

A note from the floor

How this catalog is sorted.

You'll find three conditions here: New, straight from our authorized dealer stock at Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fujifilm, Leica, Panasonic, and Blackmagic; Certified Pre-Owned, every body opened on our bench and signed off against a 38-point checklist; and Smith Street Collection, founder-curated film and medium-format pieces vetted in person by Simon Gold.

The left rail is the same language we use on the shop floor — by sensor format, by body type, by condition, by price band. If you're hunting a particular flagship, the flagship bodies are 92% in-stock on the day they list; if you're weighing whether to go used, every pre-owned body arrives with a verified shutter count and a 90-day functional warranty, three times the industry standard.

Free on-site sensor cleaning and firmware updates have been included with every body we sell since 1994. Spend over $1,500 and we'll set up a 30-minute Zoom with a staff photographer before you commit. None of that is upsell — it's the floor we keep.

Not a warehouse. A bench.

Founder's note

On the used gear we sell, and how it gets here.

A used body arrives at the bench one of three ways: a customer trading up under our lifetime trade-in credit; a private seller we know; or a consignment from a working photographer who's moved on. It does not list the day it arrives.

It sits with one of our two factory-trained technicians — Canon CPS Gold and Nikon Authorized between them — for an average of 47 minutes across 38 checklist points: shutter count pulled, sensor inspected under glass, autofocus calibrated to a known body, every port and dial exercised, battery and charger health checked, firmware updated to current. If anything fails a single point, it goes back to the bench. We do not list it.

Once it passes, we photograph it on the same bench, write the listing in plain English, and ship it with a 90-day functional warranty — three times the industry standard — plus the free sensor cleaning and firmware update we've included with every body since 1994. That is the floor. The same floor my father kept.
